I knew there was a reason to be excited today. Well, other than it is Friday. Today is the first day that I will be wearing clothes outside the challenge wardrobe! Yup, the challenge is over and I'm free to wear whatever I want.
It wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. Perhaps being older & set in my ways makes it easier to wear the same thing over & over again. I actually had a few pieces that I never even touched during the last month! Anyhoo, I took my wardrobe down to the bare bones and I think it will work for now. A few more tops and a few more bottoms. I think my goal will be to get rid of a clothing item BEFORE I begin looking for something new. I like the amount of space that I have dedicated for clothing and I want to keep it that way. I'm also finding I can easily stay on top of Mt. Washmore -how blissful is that! One less household chore that I have to worry about, which means I have more time to explore the gravitational effects of my sofa in comparison to my bed.
The next goal will be working on DD's wardrobe. She has far too many clothes for a child her size! Granted, we need a bit extra to allow for accidents, but probably not as much as we currently own. Fortunately she is growing again so it is time to get rid of the items that no longer fit. Then I would like to narrow down the spectrum of colors of new items so that we can mix-n-match more. How I managed to over-complicate a 3 year olds' wardrobe, I'll never know!
Did you do the challenge? How did it turn out? Leave results in the comments, if you would please :D
BTW, what do you think of this piece -perfect for Early Childhood Educator Chic, non?

Curiouser and Curiouser
Only 1 more week to go on the Rage Against the Wardrobe challenge, and I've realized something odd.
I really don't like my clothes that much.
I'm quite content with the quantity of clothing I have at the moment, and I'm looking forward to using the rest of my clothes once the challenge is over.
But I don't like my clothes that much.

I'm guessing I'll be more thoughtful with my purchases in the future.
My goal is to become the trendsetter for Early Childhood Educator Chic. You know, stylish yet completely covers all undergarments AT ALL TIMES. Comfortable enough to withstand the long lengths of time spent on the floor instead of adult-sized chairs and still look professional at the end of the day when we hand the children back over to loving parents. Most importantly the Early Childhood Educator Chic Wardrobe must wash easily. (small children + various sources of liquids = traumatized clothes).
Frumpy clothes (I'm talking to you bib overalls!) need not apply.

Update: Rage Against the Wardrobe
People seldom notice old clothes if you wear a big smile. ~Lee Mildon

Special Wardrobe, from a Vogue Pattern Book c.1930 Giclee Print
So far, no one has noticed my limited wardrobe! Of course, we are only on the 2nd week of school :) I had to make an emergency substitution and switch out a pair of workout shorts for long pants -it was COLD the morning I did my long walk! Other than that, I am quite pleased with my selection. I continue to plot and plan what I could do with the extra closet space if I have the guts to clear out once the experiment is over. Quake in fear sock drawer -you are next on the declutter list!
Are you doing a clothing challenge? Let me know how you are doing!

And the winner is...........
I know you're all waiting with baited breath over the winner of this hotly attended challenge! But I'm going to make you wait -hehehehe.
Have you paired your wardrobe down to the basic 10 pieces for work and six pieces for casual? I did and it wasn't nearly as painful as I would have thought. I struggled a bit, but finally decided on 6 tops and 4 bottoms. My students tend to notice my shirts more than my bottoms, so I think I should be fine. My "casual clothes" are for working out. Being in early childhood education I'm not exactly dressing in business attire so although my work clothes are already pretty casual, I wouldn't wear them to the gym!
I didn't think I owned that many clothes until I put my 10 work pieces together on the rack. They took up a minuscule amount of space! I'm looking forward to reviewing this challenge at the end of the month to see if I can let go of even more of my wardrobe.
But now, drum roll please. The winning entry for the Name the Challenge Contest is..............................

submitted by the lovely DianeDenmark. Congratulations Diane! When you get a chance drop me a line telling me what color of scarf you would like :D.
I would have posted the photo I took of the Drawing Of The Winner, but my resurrected replacement laptop is having serious issues. Instead, I'm adding this delightful pic. I imagine Diane looks just like this as she floats around her elegant Copenhagen home.
